Oaklandyou

This website design is a student project aimed at solving the design challenge of how we can address college students' worsening mental health amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. My main goals in addressing this problem were (1) getting more information out to Oakland University students about mental health in an easy-to-access manner, and (2) creating a community and safe-space for OU students. The design approach I went with includes a simple and straight-forward design style that also included trendy aspects, like bright colors, animation, color gradients, and grid systems. I ended up with Oaklandyou, an interactive and student-led website for students who are struggling with their mental health and are in need of a community to share in their struggles. The website includes mental health resources, a page for student art to be displayed, a page for student suggested media (i.e. music, movies, books, etc.), and a page for breathing exercises.

The website was created in Figma.
